Emergency Information

Emergency Closings and Delays

If school must be closed or the opening of a school day delayed, the school will notify the following radio and television stations: 99.1 WIKB-FM 93.1 WIMK-FM WLUC-TV6

Fire / Tornado / Lock-down Emergencies

The signal for a fire is a pulsating horn blast. It operates until the fire sensor has been located and deactivated by school personnel. It is imperative that students move single file, rapidly, and carefully. They are not to slow down until they have reached their pre-assigned areas. This allows the last students to quickly reach an area of safety. The first student to open any outside door should remain holding the door until all other students have vacated the building or administrator or teach replaces them. Tornado procedures will be review in each class and will be followed when a tornado strike is imminent. Code Red / Lock-down procedures are in place and drills are conducted annually per state guidelines.

In the Event of an Emergency

In the event of an emergency, please tune in to 99.1 WIKB-FM for instructions. Please do not contact the school or attempt to contact your child, as this will interrupt phone lines and cell services that are needed for emergency personnel. As we are approaching that time of year when weather is unpredictable, please tune in the 99.1 WIKB-FM or WLUC-TV6 for information concerning any school delays or cancellations due to inclement weather. Notices will be called to the radio station by 6:00a.m. It is also very important to instruct your children as to what they should do if school must be dismissed earlier than our normal school hours. DO NOT ASK THEM TO CALL, it is impossible to handle all the requests.
